Peacemakers
Alternative
Dispute
Resolution
|
One of the main reasons for the
existence of Peacemakers is to provide ADR services
where disputes might affect the harmony of the community.
CONFLICT EXAMPLES
disagreements between neighbors |
problems with cats and dogs |
noisy parties |
unsightly premises |
trespassing and similar problems |
disputes between room mates |
by-law enforcement difficulties |
disputes within organizations |
disputes involving factions
within a community |
family disputes |
employment difficulties |
etc |
How it Starts.....
When a dispute is brought to the attention of Peacemakers by one of the parties, or perhaps an interested third
party, the matter is handed over to
the Society's Coordinator of services, David Mangle. He contacts the
parties, determines if the problem is one where our services would be appropriate, and, if it is, assigns a trained
facilitator or facilitators from the Society to meet with the parties.
Confidentiality is
essential if the ADR process is to work, so the
actual details of any particular process are very
closely protected. Even the executive does not know the
full details of a process, only the facilitator (s) and the
parties do. The executive and the Society members would
be given just general information such as the fact that
there is an ADR process being conducted and the general area in which it is taking place.
Cost:
Our low fees cover our operating expenses only. They are as follows:
$20 per/hr of service plus expenses (travel, meals,
etc. as negotiated )
or
$500 per year of service for up to 30 hrs of
service, plus expenses.
or
For training workshops usually $15 to $20 per
participant depending on the length of workshop and number of
participants.
